Cuba vs. USA live stream: Watch international soccer online
Cuba face USA at Estadio Pedro Marrero on Friday, Oct. 7. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
This will be the first friendly between the two sides in almost 70 years. Cuba regularly qualifies for the Gold Cup, but failed to make it past the second round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying. As has been the case with Cuban athletes in many different sports, the Cuban national soccer team has been hampered by a number of defections. The most notable soccer defection was Osvaldo Alonso, currently an important player for the Seattle Sounders in MLS.
The matchup with Cuba is the first of a pair of friendlies for the USMNT as they prepare for the Hexagonal, the final round of World Cup Qualifying in this region. A number of players that are either young or have had little experience with the national team have been called in, including Lynden Gooch of Sunderland, Perry Kitchen of Hearts and Danny Williams of Reading.
Gooch receiving the call is of particular interest: The 20-year-old has played his way into David Moyes’s starting lineup in the Premier League. Goalkeepers Tim Howard (Colorado Rapids) and Brad Guzan (Middlesbrough) have been left at home. The former due to crunch time in MLS; the latter due to lack of playing time. Three young and relatively untested keepers have been called in instead, with Ethan Horvath of Molde FK (Norway) expected to get at least one start.

The USMNT left for Cuba on Wednesday instead of Thursday due to Hurricane Matthew. The match is expected to be played at the scheduled time in spite of the weather. Expect a mix of young players and veterans as the US look to find some chemistry before starting the final round of Russia 2018 qualifying against Mexico in Columbus on November 11. Cuba would love nothing more than to upset the USMNT on Cuban soil, but, baring a monumental collapse by the Yanks, that looks highly unlikely.
