2. Darrell Hazell

This is the portion of the program where we admit it’s not exactly fair to say a coach is on a hot seat when their fate is already sealed. Let’s be real here, Darrell Hazell is getting fired sooner or later. His Purdue Boilermakers are an absolute mess.

With a 2-23 record in the Big Ten and no wins over Indiana to show for it, Hazell is going to be fired real soon. The Maryland Terrapins aren’t exactly the standard bearer in the conference and they rolled over Purdue without any issues.

This week, Hazell can’t afford an embarrassing loss or a loss of any kind for that matter. The Boilermakers will be taking on a struggling Illinois team, but that just means that Hazell really can’t lose this one at all. His team needs to respond this week.

He’s going to get fired eventually, but he can delay that with a win. That’s no guarantee however and if they lose this week, then the program will be crazy not to let him go right away. Whether making a change makes no difference, they can’t stand by a coach that continues to struggle.
