College Football Picks Against The Spread Evening October 8

It was another bad week for me. I know, I sound like a broken record this year. College football is a fickle beast sometimes. It’s going to be really hard to get myself out of this hole. With the season already nearly a third over, maybe 50% is a more realistic goal. Then again, the games with FCS opponents are pretty much over, so I will have 60 games per week to get back on track!

More from College Football Odds

Sunday through Friday, I am the perfect husband. No really, I am. You can ask the boss a.k.a. my wife. I help with all of the household chores, walk the dogs, cook meals, all that good stuff that women love. Come Saturday, my wife hates me. This is MY day. I become one with the couch. Just another piece of immovable furniture. Why am I interested in so many games? Other than the fact that I love college football, here is why: I was possessed by Jimmy The Greek and Lee Corso at the same time!

In case you don’t know what I do here, I pick every college football game of the season. Against the spread. Trust me, it’s not as easy as it sounds! I take the average of the odds from all of the Vegas casinos. I then round to the nearest half. There will be no ties here. Ties are for the other football (soccer).

This contains the picks for FBS vs. FBS game only. It is too hard to get an accurate spread on teams that involve 1-AA teams.

I will assign a point value “bet” on each game, between one and five points. That way you can see just how confident I am in each pick. Look for those at the end of each line.

This is for entertainment purposes only! I cannot be responsible for you losing any of your worldly possessions (or limbs) because of my picks. These are a guideline that you can use to help you with your picks. I am a simple man. I can’t have that on my conscience.

There are 56 games this week.  The Old Dominion-UMass game was moved to last night, so that game can be found in the previous post. The last18 games take placed after 7pm Friday. The two that were moved to Sunday because of the Hurricane are here as well.

Marshall(-10.5) at North Texas(1): Wow, really? I don’t know if I buy this. Give me the Mean Green.

Fresno State at Nevada(-7.5)(1): I’m not entirely convinced that the Wolfpack can beat anyone by more than a touchdown, but I’m tired of getting burned by Fresno. Give me Nevada.

(1)Alabama(-13.5) at (19)Arkansas(2): This is a lot of points in a SEC road game, but you would be hard pressed to find a team playing better than the Tide right now. Give me Bama.

Idaho at Louisiana-Monroe(-3.5)(2): The Warhakws aren’t quite this bad. Give me Monroe.

(4)Michigan(-29.5) at Rutgers(3): I would be willing to bet that Michigan had more strenuous practices this week than this actual game will give them. Wolverines by a lot. At least 42.

Texas Tech at Kansas State(-9.5)(4): I know that Patrick Mahomes most likely wont play, but keep in mind that he was the third string QB about 23 months ago. He was thrust into action and played so well that he prompted the transfers of Davis Webb to Cal and Baker Mayfield to Oklahoma. This is a system, and a damn good one. Plug and play for Tech. They may struggle to win, but I still think they do.

Syracuse at Wake Forest(-3.5)(2): The Orange have played pretty well for the most part, but so have the Deacons. I have to go with Wake at home.

(5)Washington(-9.5) at Oregon(4): There is a lot of bad blood here, especially since Duck U has owned the Huskies for much of this millennium. The Dawgs get revenge in a big way here. Give me Washington.

Florida International at UTEP(-5.5)(3): Aaron Jones is a good back, and you have probably heard me sing his praises more than once. However, he can’t do it alone. FIU straight up.

Florida State at Miami(-2.5)(2): Something tells me Jimbo is going to rally the troops here. I picked FSU in Pick Em, and I haven’t been convinced to change my mind. Give me Florida State.

California(-13.5) at Oregon State(5): I will withhold any juvenile comments related to the Beavers getting absolutely pounded by anyone with a pulse this year. The trend continues here. Cal by at least 20.

Arizona at (24)Utah(-9.5)(2): I realize that Arizona hasn’t played particularly well on the road, but this looks high. Utah’s offense was embarrassed last week. I don’t think they have enough to cover this. Give me Arizona.

Utah State(-5.5) at Colorado State(4): The Aggies defense is a tough bunch. They are keeping this team going with the offense banged up. The Aggies will win, and it wont be all that close on the field though the score likely stays within ten.

UNLV at San Diego State(-15.5)(1): The Aztecs are by far the better team, but the rough loss to South Alabama has me thinking twice. I still take SDSU because of Pumphrey.

UCLA(-9.5) at Arizona State(3): UCLA did look good last week, but the Sun Devils have been tough at home. I tend to believe this stays a one score game no matter what. Give me Sparky.

Washington State at (15)Stanford(-6.5)(2): This line opened at -14.5. Stanford’s offense is plodding, and Washington exploited everything about them last week. The problem here is that Washington State can’t replicate most of what the Huskies did. I still like the Cougars straight up, but it’s going to be a really close one.

Charlotte at Florida Atlantic(-13.5)(2): The only thing that hasn’t failed me this year is Charlotte getting covered. Give me the Owls.

Georgia(-6.5) at South Carolina(5): Nick Chubb is back, and you’re gonna be in trouble. Hey now, hey now, Nick Chubb is back! This is too low. Running teams reign supreme on water-logged fields. I don’t know how Williams-Brice Stadium will look come Sunday afternoon, but it doesn’t much matter either. Give me Georgia.

Next: ESPN College Pick Em Picks Week 6

We are down to 54 games this weekend since the Tulane-UCF game was postponed, and the LSU-Florida game is in limbo. That pick was made just in case. but we have 54 games for sure. I have seven one pointers, 23 two pointers, 15 three pointers, six four pointers, and three five pointers. I didn’t bet as big this week. I went conservatively to try and gain the points back little by little. No sense digging a bigger hole like I did in week 4.
