For Saturday’s game against Miami, Florida State will wear a helmet sticker to recognize those impacted by Hurricane Matthew.

On Saturday evening, Miami and Florida State will renew their rivalry in an ACC game. They’re coming into this game ranked at No. 23 and No. 10, respectively.

The state of Florida is dealing with something more important than this football game, though. They’re about to face the wrath of Hurricane Matthew, which is hitting the country this weekend. It’s expected to go along the East Coast of Florida, and into Georgia and South Carolina. This storm already caused Florida vs. LSU to be postponed.

Given the impact of the storm on Florida, FSU is going to recognize those affected with a helmet sticker during Saturday’s game. It’s a red cross with the state of Florida at the forefront. The Seminoles’ Twitter account made the announcement below:

This is a small but great way to recognize those who will be affected by Hurricane Matthew. It’s a storm that may cause homes to be destroyed, communities being torn apart and lives being lost.

As for the game, it’s a crucial one for Florida State, who already have two losses. This includes a blowout defeat to Louisville earlier in the season. To keep any hope of moving up in the AP Poll, they’ll need to top the undefeated Hurricanes.

Miami has been successful under first-year head coach, Mark Richt. They have a 5-0 record and a win over Florida State should push them further up the polls. It could even help for when the College Football Playoff rankings get unveiled soon.

The game won’t be the first thing on everyone’s minds, though. Hurricane Matthew is causing people to have their lives affected, and will be thought of by everyone on Saturday.
