The first touchdown of the Florida State vs. Miami game came when Brad Kaaya threw this 21-yard pass to Stacy Coley in the second quarter.
Through the first quarter-and-a-half, Miami and Florida State scored a combined three points. More of an offensive showing had been expected, but both defenses stepped up. This included a Hurricane interception of Sean Maguire in the red zone.
Following the turnover, Miami drove down the field and into FSU territory. They started at their own 24-yard line and got to the 21 of the Seminoles. The offense faced a 3rd-and-19, something difficult to overcome. However, quarterback Brad Kaaya would hit wide receiver Stacy Coley for a touchdown to increase their lead to 10-0.
The catch was a sensational one from Coley, who managed to get a foot down in the end zone after angling toward the sideline. The play got reviewed to see if he had been successful in getting his foot in bounds.
This Miami score is a big one as the game had previously been a defensive struggle. It could be a way of opening up the game for Mark Richt’s offense, which took a while to get going.
The Hurricanes have the passing advantage over Florida State at the moment. This is due to Deondre Francois’ injury, which he suffered earlier in the second quarter. He landed hard on his right shoulder, but managed to return despite potentially being in pain. If the freshman has to leave the game again, then Miami’s strong passing attack may be too much for FSU.

Miami will now be tasked with hanging onto this lead for the second half of the game. They have a double-digit margin to keep afloat and may be able to keep it this way at home.
