The Naval Academy will cancel school on Tuesday following their win over No. 6 Houston.
Sure to be the topic of discussion on Sunday morning, Navy did the unthinkable and handed the Houston Cougars their first loss of the season.
As a token of appreciation for the Midshipmen’s efforts, the superintendent at Navy decided to close the campus on Tuesday.

Every once in a blue moon, Navy grabs wins like these. Their last win to an opponent ranked in the top 10? 1974.
Both members of the AAC West, Navy is likely to finish atop the division at season’s close depending on the outcome of Air Force’s season. (Air Force defeated Navy very recently.)
But this loss puts Houston in a rough spot.
It not only spoils their chances at playoff contention, but it might also mean losing their head coach, Tom Herman. The rumor mill has churned out the probability of Herman heading to the Texas Longhorns.

It’s hard to pin the firing of an HC for one loss, but Tom Herman is in high demand. Regardless of where he ends up, he’ll be able to restructure a program that needs gradual progress.
As for Navy, the win against Houston is monumental for a program that lost top QB Keenan Reynolds to the 2016 NFL Draft. However, Navy’s new QB in Will Worth proved that he is, well, worth it.
Against Houston, Worth finished with a QBR of 319.7, even though he attempted only five passes. He did, however, rush for 115 yards and a TD.
The match-up had its fair share of equilibrium in the first half, but Navy controlled the game in the third quarter and didn’t look back. As a result of the Midshipmen’s tenacity, they’ll settle back in Annapolis with a 46-40 win.

The mayhem continues in the infant college football season. And this week didn’t let up. Though it wasn’t postponed due to inclement weather, the match-up between Notre Dame and N.C. State was rather entertaining. The Cotton Bowl Classic, too, kept an interesting tone throughout as Dede Westbrook shined for Oklahoma.
