The NC State Wolfpack and Notre Dame Fighting Irish deemed playing football in a hurricane a good idea. The people of Twitter would beg to differ.

Week 6 of the college football season had several big games on the schedule. One intriguing mid-level matchup, though, featured the Notre Dame Fighting Irish heading to Raleigh, NC to face the NC State Wolfpack. However, with Hurricane Matthew wreaking havoc on the East Coast, you’d think they might’ve postponed the matchup until at least Sunday. For whatever reason, they elected to still play the game.

What resulted was an absolute mess of a football game right for the start. Players couldn’t hold onto the ball in warmups. NC State tried to run a flea flicker and the quarterback dropped the flip back. Oh, there were also puddles that could double as a small pond standing in the middle of the field. The fans at Carter-Finlay Stadium looked miserable in the winds and downpour. Their misery, though was matched only by that of the players and coaches.

How this game wasn’t postponed remains a mystery. And the good users of Twitter were quick to take notice of such things. From making fun of the horrendous football to wondering who let this happen, they voiced their opinions loudly. Rightfully so, too. After all, playing in this type of weather is an affront to college football for a number of quality reasons.

Instead, we get to watch a crap-fest of epic proportions because that’s what hurricanes tend to do to football games.
