The No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies beat the No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, 45-38. Here are all the highlights, a game recap, and the final score.

The CBS SEC Game of the Week in Week 6 was simply outstanding. The No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies bested the No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers in double overtime, 45-38. These two teams were a perfect 5-0 entering the game, but only the Aggies came out of it unscathed.

Texas A&M dominated the first half with an impressive pass rush led by junior defensive end Myles Garrett. The Aggies forced seven Tennessee turnovers and had Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs running for his life in the Volunteers backfield.

Tennessee would do what it does best and put on a second-half comeback of the ages. The Volunteers would force overtime after icing sophomore Aggies kicker Daniel LeCamera on a potential game-winning field goal as time expired.

The Volunteers have enough magic left to force overtime against the Aggies, but Texas A&M prevailed on in the second extra period. Texas A&M star quarterback Trevor Knight would score the game-winning touchdown to make it 45-38 Aggies. Dobbs only fitting would toss the game-ending interception.

Just a week ago, Dobbs was the hero on a game-winning Hail Mary on the road versus the Georgia Bulldogs. Tennessee can still win the SEC East, but will have to hold its own at home against the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 7. Texas A&M has an extra week to prepare for Alabama on the road in Week 8.

Three Stars

  1. Trevor Knight: Knight was far from perfect, but delivered when the Aggies needed him most. He completed 17 of 34 passes for 239 yards two touchdowns and two interceptions. Knight did most of his damage on the ground with 15 carries for 110 yards and three rushing touchdowns.
  2. Alvin Kamara: Kamara was everything for the Volunteers on Saturday. He was the bell-cow back for Tennessee that didn’t have Jalen Hurd in the backfield. Kamara had 18 carries for 127 yards and two touchdowns. He would also have eight catches for 161 yards and a touchdown out of the backfield.
  3. Myles Garrett: Garrett led the Aggies’ vaunted pass rush. He had at least two quarterback sacks and a forced fumble of Dobbs. He was the best player on the Texas A&M defense that forced seven Volunteer turnovers.
