The Virginia Tech Hokies will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels Saturday afternoon. Here’s how you can watch the ACC matchup of top-25 teams.

With a combined six straight wins, the Virginia Tech Hokies (No. 25) and North Carolina Tar Heels (No. 17) are both in the top-25 entering Saturday’s game in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels upset Florida State 37-35 last Saturday, on kicker Nick Weiler’s 54-yard field goal as time expired, and Virginia Tech easily handled East Carolina 54-17 in their last game Sept. 24.

Since a loss to Tennessee on Sept. 10, the Hokies (3-1) have won their last two games by a combined score of 103-17. This week will be a step back up in competition level coming  off a bye week, and a test for the Hokies under first-year head coach Justin Fuente.

Dual threat quarterback Jerod Evans looks like a good fit for Fuente’s up-tempo spread offense, with efficiency as a passer (67 percent completion rate, 13:1 touchdown to interception ratio, 185.8 passer rating) and production with his feet (209 rushing yards; 5.2 yards per carry). Other key pieces of Virginia Tech’s offense include running back Travon McMillian (48 carries for 212 yards and four total touchdowns), wide receiver Isaiah Ford (24 catches for 376 yards, four touchdowns) and tight end Bucky Hodges (12 receptions for 150 yards).

North Carolina (4-1) lost to Georgia in their season opener, but they’ve won four in a row with their last two victories coming by a combined three points over Pittsburgh and Florida State. Junior quarterback Mitch Trubisky has emerged in his first year as a starter, with three straight 400-yard passing games and an 11:0 touchdown/interception ratio over that span. Trubisky has two capable running backs at his disposal, in Elijah Hood and T.J. Logan, and wide receiver Ryan Switzer has emerged as a clear No. 1 target with 30 receptions for 366 yards over the last two games.

Only two quarterbacks in FBS have thrown at least 13 touchdown passes with fewer than two interceptions to this point in the season. Evans and Trubisky are those two signal callers, and they’ll be on display in this game.

Here’s what you need to know about how to catch Saturday’s game.

Defense looks like a big concern on North Carolina’s side. They’ve allowed 71 points over their last two games, and they also allowed 28 points and 495 yards of offense to James Madison the three weeks ago. Virginia Tech has been better defensively, but outside of allowing 45 points to Tennessee they’ve allowed a total of 30 points to Liberty, Boston College and East Carolina.

This game in among those that could be affected by Hurricane Matthew, which is set to bear down on the south-eastern United States. So a rescheduling or change of venue is possible, which would affect kickoff time and perhaps how it can be viewed. But the game should be played this weekend regardless, and an exciting, high-scoring contest is fairly certain.
