Bears at Colts: Highlights, score, and recap
Both the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts were looking for their second victory of the season on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Both the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts found themselves with 1-3 records after four games. But Chuck Pagano’s club have to be feeling a little better following a 29-23 victory over John Fox’s stubborn club. The Colts’ shaky defense surrendered 522 total yards to quarterback Brian Hoyer and Chicago’s offense but limited them to only two touchdowns and three Connor Barth field goals.
On the other hand, Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck overcame five sacks from the Bears’ defense and threw for 322 yards and a pair of scores in the victory. Ten of his 28 completions went to fifth-year wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, who burned the Chicago defense for 171 yards and what proved to be the go-ahead-to-stay score on the afternoon.
While Bears’ running back Jordan Howard posted his second straight 100-plus-yard rushing game and Hoyer wound up throwing for 397 yards, it wasn’t enough to send the team to its fourth loss in five games – including 0-3 away from home.
Highlights
1. Andrew Luck
It’s been a so-so start for the fifth-year signal-caller but on Sunday against the Bears he was his usual resilient self. Despite being sacked five times and fumbling once (not lost), Luck completed 28-of-39 passes for 322 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the team’s 29-23 win. Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton (10-171-1 TD) and tight end Dwayne Allen (6-50-1 TD) were on the end of both of Luck’s touchdown tosses.
2. Adam Vinatieri
The ageless specialist was hot against the Bears and salvaged points for his team when they failed to reach the end zone. Vinatieri connected on field goals of 54, 53, 26, 41 and 46 yards and added a pair of PATs, giving him 17 of Indianapolis’ 29 points in the six-point triumph. He’s yet to miss a kick this season.
3. Brian Hoyer
No such thing as a moral victory but the well-traveled quarterback continues to play solid football. Hoyer was sharp, hitting on 33 of his 43 throws for 397 yards and a pair of scores in a losing effort. He was not sacked by the Colts’ pass rush and in his four appearances this season (3 starts) has thrown for 1,094 yards, six touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Odds
The Indianapolis Colts were a 5-point favorite to win their second game of 2016 and they squeezed out a six-point win. In their first four contests this season, Chuck Pagano’s club was just 1-3 ATS, failing to cover in all three of their outright losses.
Next Week
Lots of ramifications when it comes to the AFC South. The 1-4 Bears host the well-rested Jacksonville Jaguars, off last week after playing in London the previous Sunday. The 2-3 Indianapolis Colts head to the Lone Star State to battle the division-leading Houston Texans (3-2) on Sunday Night Football.
