Dak Prescott duped the Cincinnati Bengals defense with a read-option play that led to him running it in for an easy touchdown.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott continues to establish himself as a smart investment by owner Jerry Jones. The rookie quarterback has filled in nicely for injured starter Tony Romo. He showed off his running ability by scoring a touchdown on a five-yard run. Prescott easily fooled the Bengals defense with a read-option play. A Bengals defender can be seen lunging for running back Ezekiel Elliott. Prescott’s touchdown gave the Cowboys a 14-0 lead over the Cincinnati Bengals in the second quarter.

Prescott still has yet to throw an interception even after attempting 137 passes. He has 32 more passes to go to reach Tom Brady’s record. Brady currently holds the record for most passes thrown without an interception to start a career. He has now rushed for three touchdowns in addition to his three touchdown passes.

The Cowboys quarterback was drafted in the fourth round this year. This made him one of the biggest steals. The Cowboys currently hold a 3-1 record. Improving to 4-1 would be huge for a team that has strived to be less dependent on Romo. Last year’s Cowboys team limped to a 4-12 record after Romo missed the majority of the season.

This turned out to be a blessing in disguise though. The Cowboys received the fourth overall pick and used it to draft Elliott. Elliott has been nothing but a rookie sensation for the Cowboys offense. He has rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown on eight carries as of the Cowboys’ last scoring drive.

It remains to be seen how the Cowboys will handle their quarterback situation when Romo returns from his shoulder injury. Romo is expected to return as the starter. However, Prescott has clearly established himself as the franchise’s future.
