Miami Hurricanes fans started throwing trash onto the field after a crucial targeting call in the fourth quarter vs Florida State
The Miami Hurricanes and Florida State Seminoles and their respective fans have many things that can be said about them. However, the most undeniable thing that can be said is that they are nearly unmatched in their passion. So when they met in Week 6 of the college football season, you better believe there was tension in the air. Said tension reached critical mass, though, in the fourth quarter with Miami trailing.
In that final period, Jamal Carter was flagged for targeting on a big hit. After the officials went and reviewed the play, the call was confirmed. At such a crucial juncture a then 20-13 (in FSU’s favor) game, that was a huge call and ejection. And the Hurricanes fans in attendance were none too happy about it.
They were so unhappy, in fact, that they started throwing trash out of the stands and onto the field in Miami:
That’s just an ugly scene down in Miami. Schools want their fans to care and show passion. But The U and no other school wants their fans to delay the game with malarky like this. There’s no place for this and it only makes your team and school look like a clown show.
For what it’s worth, the Hurricanes answered soon after by scoring a touchdown. Unfortunately, a blocked extra point led to the home team losing to Florida State, 20-19.
