Nebraska: Eric Crouch – Nebraska Cornhuskers

Nebraska is known as the Cornhusker State, so it should come as no surprise that the best college quarterback to hail from there was a Cornhusker himself. Not only is Eric Crouch the best from his state, but he’s also one of the best NCAA signal-callers in history.

Crouch was born in Omaha, Nebraska and attended Millard North High School, where he was a two-time All-American. He decided to stay in his home state for college and signed with the University of Nebraska to play quarterback . After leading the Cornhuskers to a 12-1 record in 1999 and a 10-2 record in 2000, Crouch took the nation by storm in 2001.

During his senior season, Crouch broke numerous NCAA records and school records. He became the fourth player in Division I history to pass and rush for 3,000 yards in a career. Crouch went on to win the 2001 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year award along with the Walter Camp and Davey O’Brien awards. He also ended up winning the Heisman Trophy in the closest vote for the award since 1985.

Crouch didn’t realize his dream of becoming a successful pro quarterback, but his collegiate success makes up for it. No college quarterback born in Nebraska is more accomplished than him.
