Best college football quarterback born in every state
By Roje Smith
New Hampshire: Greg Landry – UMass Minutemen
The state of New Hampshire has not produced many college players that went on to have successful pro careers. As a matter of fact, most of them only had decent college careers. However, there is one college quarterback from the 1960s that achieved great success and should be viewed as the best quarterback born in the state.
Greg Landry was born in Nashua, New Hampshire and played quarterback for the UMass Minutemen from 1965 to 1967. He led the team to two Yankee Conference championships over the span of three years and still holds the school record for best quarterback efficiency rating. Landry also shares the single-game record for the highest completion percentage.
Landry went on to the NFL after a very successful collegiate career and experienced more success as a pro. This included his selection for the 1971 Pro Bowl and All-Pro first team. He also won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award in 1976.
There may not be much competition, but it’s abundantly clear Greg Landry is the best college quarterback born in the Granite State.
