Best college football quarterback born in every state
By Roje Smith
Florida: Lamar Jackson, Louisville
The best quarterback in Louisville football history was slept on by the programs in the Sunshine State. Born in Pompano Beach, Florida, Jackson didn’t get the recruiting attention he was deserving of from Miami, Florida State and Florida so he went to Louisville where he put up video-game numbers for three seasons with the Cardinals.
Jackson won the Heisman Trophy in 2016 after passing for 3,543 yards and 30 touchdowns and rushing for 1,571 yards and 21 touchdowns, including several of them of the highlight-reel variety. His running ability may only be surpassed by Michael Vick but his dual-threat abilities has no peer.
As a junior, Jackson was just as elusive and dangerous in and outside of the pocket, totaling 45 touchdowns and more than 5,000 yards throwing and running. He had a great shot at winning a second Heisman Trophy but Baker Mayfield stole the award from him.
