Here’s how you can watch the Opening Night matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues.
The Opening Night of the 2016-17 NHL season will feature a rivalry game when the St. Louis Blues travel to the United Center to take on the Chicago Blackhawks. This will be the first time the two teams square off since the Blues beat Chicago in the first round of the playoffs. Both teams enter the 2016-17 season with a different look, but it should still be a great game.
In St. Louis, starting goaltender Brian Elliott, wing Troy Brouwer, and center David Backes are all gone. Replacing them will be goalie Jake Allen, wing David Perron, and wing Nail Yakupov. The Blue are looking like one of the favorites to win the Central Division, bringing back a majority of their roster from last season.
Meanwhile, in Chicago, Teuvo Teravainen is no longer with the team. He was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes along with forward Bryan Bickell. They also lost forward Andrew Shaw and forward Andrew Ladd. However, defenseman Brian Campbell is back in Chicago on a cheap one-year deal. He should help solve some of the Blackhawks’ defensive issues. For the first time in a while, Chicago will be relying heavily on their young players to step up.
