Here’s how you can watch the Opening Night matchup between the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers.

The Opening Night of the 2016-17 NHL season features several rivalry games to start the season off right. One of those is the game between the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers. Calgary will travel to Rogers Place to take on the Edmonton Oilers in a battle for Alberta. With both teams having impressive offseasons, it should be a great game.

Calgary will be led by their new goaltender Brian Elliott. Goaltending was a significant issue for the Flames last season and acquiring Elliott helps change it. Also joining him is his former Blues teammate Troy Brouwer. They will lead an already impressive team consisting of captain Mark Giordano, T.J. Brodie, Sean Monahan, and Johnny Gaudreau. The battle for Alberta will be personal because the Flames signed Kris Versteeg, who had a PTO with the Oilers.

Edmonton will be led by new captain Connor McDavid. McDavid has emerged as one of the NHL’s most exciting players, averaging over a point per game in his rookie season. He will be joined by newcomers forward Milan Lucic and defenseman Adam Larsson. Larsson and Lucic will be making their debuts in Edmonton. Expectations are high for Larsson since he’s the man who the Oilers traded Taylor Hall for.
