Report: New York Islanders’ Anders Lee injured at practice
By Sammi Silber
It appears as if the simple morning skate isn’t even safe anymore.
As per reports, New York Islanders forward Anders Lee was injured at practice Wednesday. Newsday’s Arthur Staple first reported the news. During power-play drills, Lee took a slap shot to the leg. He limped off the ice and went straight to the locker room, and right now, there is no word on the severity of the injury.
Lee joins interesting company of players injured during their morning skate. Around the same time Wednesday, Buffalo Sabres star Jack Eichel was also hurt during practice.
Surely enough, this will be a huge loss for the Islanders. When it comes to the right side, the Islanders aren’t exactly stacked on the wing. Jason Chimera and Josh Bailey lead the top-six, and Lee slots in on the third line.
Lee was sixth in scoring with 36 points, and fifth in assists with 21 helpers last season. The 6-foot-3, 228-pound winger is also a solid two-way forward and can provide physicality and great back-checking ability. He maintains puck possession and can creatively generate offensive chances.
If he is out long-term, expect Cal Clutterbuck to step up and take his place. However, it will be difficult for him to fill the offensive void Lee leaves behind. Right now, this situation is not looking great for the Islanders, and they likely miss the days where they had Kyle Okposo and P.A. Parenteau.

Hopefully for New York, Lee isn’t out for too long, and if he is, their wingers will definitely have to step up in his absence. Oh well, at least John Tavares is healthy.
