Draftkings Week 6 Cash Game Lineup – Thursday & Main Slates

Last week I shared with all of you my recurring dream of what happens when I finally win the millionaire maker. Like most, I have ambitions and hopes where some will be fulfilled and some will not. That type of thinking is necessary when competing in the GPP contests. It is necessary to think outside the box and come up with a DraftKings NFL Picks lineup that is unique.

Conversely, we are not worried about uniqueness when it comes to cash game lineups. We want to be the practical and predictable non-dreamer’s when filling out our Draftkings week 6 cash game lineups. Yes, I get it…it’s boring! But, this is how we pay the bills. While we can make some nice bank on the GPP side, the volatility that goes with it adds more risk to our bankroll. Therefore, we need to use our cash game lineups to grow our bankroll. This approach will allow us to enter bigger and better GPP’s and give us a better chance for that limo ride.

There are two schools of thought when it comes to cash game lineups. First, there is the approach that since quarterbacks and running backs are the most consistent, we should pay up to solidify that consistency. Second, since quarterbacks and running backs are the most consistent, we should pay up for our receivers because we can still get good consistency paying down for a QB and RB. I subscribe to the second approach and feel it is better to pay up for the increased opportunity that a number 1 receiver provides. So now that we have the philosophy down, let’s pick our teams for the Thursday slate and Sunday Main slate:

Quarterback: In keeping with the strategy of paying down at QB and still getting consistency, I like Andy Dalton for our Thursday slate. The Bengals are up against the Patriots, who do have weaknesses in the secondary. But, game flow is the defining factor for this one. I expect the Patriots will jump out to a quick lead and the Bengals will be chasing all day. If things go right, Dalton could be looking at 40 plus throws. That much opportunity for a QB who has thrown for more yards than everyone besides the 3 R’s (Roethlisberger, Rivers and Ryan) should translate to a good day.

For the Main slate I will stay away from the top-tier QB’s and go to the mid tier for Russell Wilson. There are six higher priced options but, for $6,900 against the 31st ranked passing defense, there are not many better matchups. Sure Atlanta has been lighting up the score board but, so have their opponents. Wilson should have a good day throwing but, he adds the one factor that fantasy owners love in a QB: mobility. I could see Wilson throwing for 3 scores and running for another.

Running Backs: Having paid down considerably at QB for the Thursday slate, I am taking one top-tier back. Le’Veon Bell is one of the best and there’s not much to say except he is up against Miami. Even with Miami’s good D-Line, I don’t see them stopping Bell. Jordan Howard has quickly become a very dependable play. He is home and favored against a middle of the road Jacksonville defense. Home & favored running backs constantly outperform their away and underdog counterparts.

Again, paying down for the consistent positions puts me on Coleman and Blount for the Main slate. Tevin Coleman is the # 1 pass catching back in the NFL. Yes, Seattle is the number 4 rushing defense and Coleman won’t get 100 yards rushing. What most people don’t know is that as good as Seattle’s defense is, they are near the bottom in DVOA, at number 25, in defending the pass to running backs. Conversely, Blount is ALL ground yardage. James White handles all the pass catching out of the backfield. With the Patriots jumping out to a big lead, I expect Blount to get a bunch of carries grinding it out in the second half. I see both backs reaching the end zone.

Wide Receivers: Since I am putting a chunk of the cap to receivers, I was able to get 3 of the most targeted ones for the Thursday slate. Emmanuel Sanders and Jeremy Kerley have favorable match ups up against the 29th and 28th ranked defenders against their position, respectively. While A.J. Green is up against the 8th ranked defense against a WR1, he is in a favorable game flow. Given the Bengals will be chasing the Patriots, I see Green getting a lot of opportunities.

We saved a bunch of the cap for the Main slate which enabled us to get a top receiving corp . Antonio Brown, Amari Cooper and Marvin Jones Jr. is an impressive group. All 3 have great matchups but, Brown should have a monster day against Miami. This group has the potential of giving us 75 plus fantasy points.

Tight Ends: Richard Rodgers and Charles Clay are up against the 29th & 23rd ranked defenses against tight ends based upon fantasy points given up. Both are in favorable matchups and Clay is one of the most targeted receivers on Buffalo. Lets lock Clay into the Thursday slate lineup.

In the main slate: Rodgers has taken over the majority of the opportunity at tight end in Green Bay since Jared Cook went down to injury. He should have a good day against the worst defense against the tight end based upon football outsiders DVOA rankings.

Flex: Our best play last week in our GPP lineup was Sammie Coates. He is quickly becoming a great talent and one of the best 1-2 punches, with Brown, in the NFL. He is nursing a laceration on his hand but, all reports are that he will be playing without restriction. Set him and lock him against Miami’s defense for our Thursday slate lineup.

We mentioned earlier how we think the Bengals should have a ton of opportunity in the passing game. Feeding off of that I am going with Brandon LaFell for the Main slate flex. LaFell is the 8th most targeted receiver in the red zone. Combine that with the fervor he will be playing with against his old team, the Patriots, and I see a good fantasy play.

Defense: Basically, I scan the defensive matchups and look for the cheapest, acceptable matchup for each slate. I settled on the Eagles for the Thursday slate. While they are in a good matchup against the Redskins, I see Cousins getting sacked and throwing a couple of interceptions before this one is over. For the Main slate I went with the Cowboys. I am not convinced that Green Bay is a top team. I see Dallas forcing some turnovers with their pass coverage and doing enough to win.
