The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide crushed the No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers in Week 7, 49-10. Here are the highlights, the game recap, and the final score.

The Third Saturday in October 2016 was a lopsided win in the Alabama Crimson Tide’s favor. Alabama destroyed the Tennessee Volunteers, 49-10, in this laugher. This is now the 10th straight game that Alabama has defeated the Volunteers.

Keying the blowout victory for Alabama was true freshman Jalen Hurts. He had three touchdowns on the ground and did a fine job moving the chains through the air.

Hurts wasn’t perfect, though, as Tennessee defensive end Derek Barnett did force two Hurts fumbles. However, he looks to be a serviceable quarterback that can lead Alabama to yet another championship.

For Tennessee, it’s pretty much over for the Volunteers’ 2016 College Football Playoff hopes. Back-to-back losses to Texas A&M and Alabama has them with two losses in the SEC. Even worse, the Volunteers have blown its lead in the SEC East. The Florida Gators only have one loss in SEC play and would be the team to make it to Atlanta should they win out.

Alabama was a nine-point road favorite in this game, but few expected a 39-point blowout. Tennessee has ran out of all of its luck and was completely out of gas after taking Texas A&M to double overtime the week before. The Volunteers will have to wait another year to stop its decade-long slide to arch rival Alabama.

Three Stars

  1. Jalen Hurts: Hurts destroyed the Tennessee defense and he did most of his damage on the ground. Hurts had 12 carries for 132 yards and three touchdowns. He would complete 16-26 passes for 143 yards and an interception. Hurts would also fumble twice, but was still the best player in this game.
  2. Bo Scarbrough: Scarbrough was quiet until the fourth quarter. His 85-yard touchdown was unreal. He would finish with 109 yards on five carries.
  3. Ronnie Harrison: Harrison’s pick-six of Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs put the game out reach early. Alabama would lead 14-0 at the end of the first quarter after the Harrison interception.
