Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been cleared from concussion protocol and should play against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The Carolina Panthers are struggling to begin the 2016 season and their chances at making the playoffs are steep at this point. If they are going to go on a run, they’re going to need Cam Newton back under center and making plays for them to have a chance.

Newton missed the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football this past week, because of a concussion. There have been questions about whether or not he will start against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The good news is that he should be able to give it a go. Ian Rapoport is reporting that Newton has cleared concussion protocol.

The Panthers need a win this week or they can pretty much say goodbye to their season barring a miracle. While the Saints have been struggling themselves, it will be tough for Carolina on the road. The two teams engaged in a shootout last season, which saw Carolina barely pull one out on the road.

Newton is going to have to be at his best to give his team a chance. The refs and trainers on the sideline will be watching him closely, as he has taken some dangerous shots to the head this season.
