Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield connects with wide receiver Dede Westbrook for an amazing 88-yard touchdown on the Kansas State Wildcats.

The Oklahoma Sooners may have two losses on the season, but could still be the best team in the Big 12. Their two losses are to non-conference opponents in the Houston Cougars and the Ohio State Buckeyes. As long as they have Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook, they are going to be very hard to beat in the Big 12 this season.

Up 31-17 on the Kansas State Wildcats, Mayfield connects on a marvelous 88-yard touchdown pass with Westbrook to distance the lead on Kansas State. Mayfield hits Westbrook in stride at the 50-yard line and he was off to the races.

Westbrook has been a godsend to the Sooners’ passing offense. He has become the favorite target of Mayfield in October for the Sooners. Mayfield leaned heavily on Sterling Shepard last season, but he now plays for the NFL’s New York Giants.

Westbrook set a single-game receiving record at the University of Oklahoma in Week 6 versus the arch rival Texas Longhorns in the Red River Showdown. He is gradually becoming the Sooner State’s favorite Westbrook not named Russell of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Oklahoma’s two biggest threats in the Big 12 this year will be the Baylor Bears and the West Virginia Mountaineers. Baylor and West Virginia were the only two undefeated teams in the Big 12 entering play on Saturday.

Should Oklahoma continue to look this dynamic on offense, the Sooners will be the toughest team to beat in the Big 12 in 2016.
