Joe Mixon got himself quite the passing stat on Saturday afternoon as Oklahoma takes on Kansas State
If there is one thing that we know, it’s that Oklahoma Sooners running back Joe Mixon is one of the more versatile players in the nation. When you think of that, though, usually what comes to mind is the fact the he’s amazing at rushing the ball, as well as catching it out of the backfield.
But, we learned on Saturday that there is another category to his versatility — passing.
Yes, Mixon got the chance to spin the rock on Saturday as the Sooners take on the Kansas State Wildcats in Big 12 action, and he certainly made the most of it. In the second quarter of this one with Oklahoma clinging to a 14-7 lead over Bill Snyder’s team, Mixon took the ball and tossed it to a wide open Dede Westbrook, who was able to get six points on the board for the Sooners.
So going back to the subject of versatility here for a second, if you’re keeping score at home, Mixon now has caught a touchdown pass in this game and thrown for one. When you have a weapon like him in the backfield, amazing things like this will happen.
It’s also another touchdown grab for Westbrook, who is just lighting it up this season for the Sooners. He’s coming off a week last weekend in which he torched the Texas Longhorns, and it looks like he’s out to do it to the Wildcats here — obviously no matter who is the one tossing him the ball.

Westbrook did not start the game on Saturday for some reason, but he was right out there for the second play of the game back in the first quarter of this one.
Kansas State might wanna keep better eyes on that young man.
