Tennessee fans did their best to troll former Vols head coach and current Alabama offensive coordinator, Lane Kiffin, but he trolled them just as hard.

To say the Tennessee Volunteers hate Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin would be putting it lightly. Kiffin coached Tennessee for one season in 2009 before spurning the Volunteers for the USC Trojans job.

Having Kiffin as the offensive coordinator for Alabama only intensifies the Crimson Tide’s cross-divisional rivalry with Tennessee. The Third Saturday in October is in full swing, so let the Kiffin trolling begin.

A Tennessee fan told Kiffin, “Derek Barnett is coming. Tell your freshman QB to be ready.” Kiffin would respond cleverly with “Barnett jumps offsides every play anyway.” SEC Country’s Marq Burnett would tweet out the remarks.

Barnett is one of the best pass rushers in the SEC. Yes, Kiffin is starting true freshman Jalen Hurts at quarterback, but Hurts has played well so far in 2016. Kiffin is a good offensive mind and has certainly ready for the vaunted Tennessee pass rush headlined by Barnett.

Trolling Kiffin didn’t stop verbally on Saturday. Flying above Neyland Stadium in Knoxville was a plane with a banner saying, “Kiffin has small hands. Ask Layla.” Ben Jones of Tide Sports would tweet out the plane’s message.

As long as Kiffin is the offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide, the banter from Tennessee will continue. It’s mean-spirited for sure, but it is comical to say the very least. Alabama has won the last nine meetings head-to-head with the Vols.
