Oklahoma Sooners running back Samaje Perine gets his team on the board first against the Kansas State Wildcats on a 25-yard swing pass from Baker Mayfield.

The Oklahoma Sooners may have two losses on the seasonΒ but are still probably the best team in a weak Big 12 conference. Early losses to the Houston Cougars and the Ohio State Buckeyes may have Oklahoma out of the College Football Playoff picture, but have one of the best running backs in the Power 5 in Samaje Perine.

Perine is shifty in the Oklahoma backfield. Here he is getting into the end zone against the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday. Perine scores on a nice swing pass from quarterback Baker Mayfield to put Oklahoma up 7-0 early on the Wildcats after the made PAT.

It has been the offense that has kept the Sooners out of the Playoff picture. Oklahoma has had its issues defensively, but clearly, have a ton of firepower on offense. Perine, Mayfield, wide receiver Dede Westbrook, and running back Joe Mixon are talented enough to lead the Sooners to an undefeated Big 12 record in 2016.

Kansas State is a better team on defense this year than on offense. Longtime head coach Bill Snyder hasn’t found his reliable starting quarterback this season. The Wildcats just aren’t able to put up enough points to contend with the Air Raid offenses in the Big 12 in 2016.

Oklahoma had a great win last week over rival Texas in the Red River Showdown in Dallas. Should the Sooners get past Kansas State, their two biggest threats in the Big 12 have to be the Baylor Bears and the West Virginia Mountaineers.

It’s still early, but Oklahoma looks to be the best team in the Big 12. The Sooners look poised for a New Year’s Six bowl at season’s end.
