A hectic matchday in the Premier League saw Arsenal draw level with Manchester City at the top of the table.

Remember when everyone was freaking out over Arsenal’s opening loss to Liverpool? With the way they’ve played recently, that feels like a century ago. They got off to a great start against Swansea when Theo Walcott bagged a brace, then held on for the 3-2 win. That would’ve been good enough to see them take the top spot outright, but they’ll have to settle for a share of it with Manchester City.

After losing to Tottenham, City were desperate to get back into the win column against Everton. But Everton proved that they’re not the same team as last year by hanging tough and collecting a big point on the road. City had plenty of chances to win the game, but Maarten Stekelenburg bailed them out by getting two penalty saves. Tim Howard who?

And had Tottenham beaten West Brom, they would’ve topped of the table by a point. But as it turns out, that’s easier said than done, as their former player Nacer Chadli burned them by scoring a goal. Dele Alli was able to rescue the result, but they trail both Arsenal and Manchester City at the top. Tottenham have to play well enough the rest of the way to ensure that this result doesn’t come back to haunt them.

With all that being said, here is a look at the updated Premier League table:

Manchester City are still technically above Arsenal by virtue of goal difference. Their first encounter is still two months away, but there figures to be a lot on the line in that game.

This week was just another example of how unpredictable the Premier League can be. Both Manchester City and Tottenham were supposed to take care of business, but because they didn’t, Arsenal now find themselves at the top. They deserve credit for bouncing back so quickly, but Arsenal fans have seen this movie before, and are waiting for the inevitable drop-off.
