How did the coaches on the college football hot seat watch list fare in Week 7?

The clock is ticking for plenty of coaches in college football. Week 7 has come and gone, which has left a lot to be said about many programs. It was another week that could have pushed some coaches toward potentially losing their jobs down the line. Now we get to the part of the year where programs start pulling the plug and finish the year out with interim coaches.

We had five coaches on the hot seat watch this week, with three of the coaches having their teams play this week. Steve Addazio and Mark Helfrich live to see another week as a result, but they have to have wins next week. The coaches on the hot seat this week went 1-2 and those two losses could be all for a couple of them. Here are the winners and losers of the hot seat watch.

Jim Mora

The UCLA Bruins are bad and Jim Mora is going to quickly find himself out of a job. The team lost another game against Washington State on Saturday night and they appear to potentially heading for a losing season if they can’t get things turned around. Missing a bowl game would be the ultimate nail in the coffin for Mora, after a season of playoff aspirations.

Brian Kelly

This is another one that’s going to boil over soon. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were ugly again on Saturday, which has come close to knocking them out of contention of even playing a bowl game. This team isn’t playing inspired football and that’s not good news for Brian Kelly.

Charlie Strong

After a tough loss to Oklahoma last week, Texas responded how they needed to on Saturday. The defense was finally there against Iowa State and they picked up a needed win at home. Seeing the team compete for the full game is what Strong needs every game from here on out.
