Goldberg is back in WWE after returning on RAW from Denver, CO to confront Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Is The Beast Incarnate next?

The last time that WCW and pro wrestling phenomenon Goldberg was in a WWE ring, it was 2004 at WrestleMania XX. Headlining the show, Goldberg found himself in a war with Brock Lesnar. Granted, the match is widely regarded as one of the biggest flops in Mania history. However, that was the last time that the man who asked “Who’s Next” was seen in WWE.

However, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

After Paul Heyman came out on the October 10 episode of WWE RAW and challenged Goldberg, the former WWE Champion said on Twitter that he would indeed be showing up in Denver, CO for the October 17 episode of the show. Heyman also poked the monster again on Monday in Denver.

Sure enough, Goldberg showed up for the first time in over a decade. And just as he left the company, he again had his sights set on Lesnar, responding to The Beast Incarnate and Heyman’s challenge:

Well, now we know “Who’s next?” And for a man not known for his promo skills, this was one of the best of his career. Soon after, it was also announced the Brock Lesnar will be on WWE RAW next week. This should start to heat up soon.

Rumors have been circulating for quite some time about a Goldberg return to WWE. Ever since he was announced as the cover star for WWE 2K17, it’s felt like an inevitability. That feeling was indeed true.

Other scuttlebutt from around pro wrestling has said that this is all leading to a match between Goldberg and Lesnar at Survivor Series 2016. Who knows why they would want a rematch of one of the worst Mania matches ever, but here we are.

This is definitely leading to a match at some point in the future, be it at that joint pay-per-view or not. However, it’s not exactly comforting that it would now be a match between a stale Lesnar and a near-50-year-old who hasn’t been in the ring since he was in his 30s.
