Which NHL teams will be featured on NBCSN in Week 2 of the 2016-17 season?
This week on NBCSN, there will be two NHL games. These games will be aired nationally. Ironically, neither of the two games are between rivals. Tuesday’s game will feature an alternate broadcast crew while Wednesday’s affair will be the night Doc Emrick and Eddie Olczyk will do the commentary.
Tuesday’s game will feature the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks. The Flyers travel to the United Center to take on the Blackhawks starting at 8:30 PM EST. It’s a rematch of the epic 2009-10 Stanley Cup Finals. Another fascinating storyline between the two teams goes all the way back to the 2007 draft.
Despite the Flyers finishing with the league’s worst record, they didn’t get the first overall pick. It went to the Blackhawks, who went on to pick Patrick Kane. The Flyers are off to a 1-0-1 start to their season while the Blackhawks are 1-2-0 to start their season.

Wednesday’s game features a battle between two Original Six teams as the Detroit Red Wings travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Rangers. Without Pavel Datsyuk, the Red Wings are off to a 0-2-0 start, allowing 10 goals in the process. This season could be the end of an extremely impressive playoff streak for the Red Wings.
Meanwhile, the New York Rangers are off to a 1-1-0 start. They could be without defenseman Dan Girardi, who has a hip flexor injury. Their new look offense has been impressive so far. Leading the way has been long-time nemesis to goaltenders, forward Chris Kreider. Henrik Lundqvist has allowed three goals in each of his first two games against the Islanders and the Blues. However, his defense has been a significant reason for it. It should be a great game between two Original Six teams who surprisingly don’t have too much hatred for each other.
