Great wins

One of the two biggest things we learned in the SEC this week is that the Arkansas Razorbacks are a top-tier team in the conference. Their losses to Texas A&M and Alabama are quality defeats. The difference between the Razorbacks and Auburn is that Arkansas has shown it can beat solid opponents head-to-head.

Arkansas got its first SEC win by beating Ole Miss at home on Saturday night 34-30. That is another quality win for the Hogs to pair with their overtime thriller in Fort Worth overĀ TCU from a month ago.

The Razorbacks aren’t winning the SEC West, but should be able to win nine games for head coach Bret Bielema. This team has holes in its roster construction, but Arkansas is one of the better coached teams in the SEC this season.

Look who’s back in first place in the SEC East: the Florida Gators. Losing to Tennessee in Knoxville a few weeks ago wasn’t great, but the Gators had to know that Tennessee was going to lose to both Texas A&M and Alabama.

Going forward, the Gators are the team to beat in the SEC East. Obviously theyĀ can’t mess up and fall to 6-2. That would mean Tennessee would take back control of the division because of its head-to-head tiebreaker over Florida.

It’s really going to come down to how well Florida and Tennessee play Arkansas. That seems to be the toughest remaining SEC game for either SEC East rival. The Gators play real defense. With Luke Del Rio back under center, they look like a team capable of playing in Atlanta in early December.
