It was just two weeks ago the the Hurricanes had plenty of swag and really did believe they were back and one of the best teams in college football. Then came back-to-back home losses to Florida State and North Carolina.
Brad Kaaya has looked like a different man at quarterback for Miami in recent weeks and the once powerful offense has suffered as a result. With a Thursday night trip to Virginia Tech this week, the Hurricanes are staring down the barrel of being a four-loss team by the time the season is over.
When you look at this Panthers team, you see two losses on their record and a team that you don’t really know what to say about. In reality, they are a tough ball club who can beat you on all sides of the ball (just ask Virginia this past weekend).
With games still on the schedule against Virginia Tech and Miami to go along with just one conference loss (a one-point decision to UNC), the Panthers could end up being the surprise winners of the Coastal. If that’s to happen, they will need quarterback Nathan Peterman to carry more of the load on offense for running back James Conner.
It wasn’t pretty for the Seminoles, but that’s the way it looks like the wins are going to come for Jimbo Fisher and his team. For the ‘Noles, the bye week couldn’t come at a better time as they prepare to host Clemson on the 29th.
For FSU, getting another 100-yard game from Dalvin Cook was clutch, but even more was another solid defensive outing. Yes, Wake Forest isn’t the high-powered offense that the ‘Noles have faced in other games, but holding them to under 275 yards of total offense is the confidence builder the ‘Noles need for the last five regular season games.
