The Chicago Blackhawks play their first non-Central opponent when they host the Philadelphia Flyers. Here’s how to watch the game online.

For a league that prides itself on parity, the Chicago Blackhawks are the closest thing to a modern-day dynasty. Winning three Stanley Cups in six years is almost unheard of in this day and age, but the Hawks have taken a bit of a step back. Despite having Patrick Kane claim the Art Ross and the Hart, the Blackhawks lost in seven games to the St. Louis Blues in the second round of the playoffs.

Considering the Blues are a team that often struggles in the playoffs, that signaled a shift in balance in the Central Division. It’s the best division in the NHL, as every one is a threat to make the playoffs. Chicago has started the season with three divisional games against the Blues and Nashville Predators and got off to a 1-2 start. It’s no longer Chicago’s division, as everyone behind them has gotten better.

But they will get a break from that murderers’ row when they host the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers didn’t make a lot of changes in the offseason, but are hoping to improve on a season in which they snuck into the playoffs. Two players to watch are Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek –they finished last year with 67 and 55 points, respectively, which is low by their standards. And after Shayne Gostisbehere got some Calder love, look for him to take another step forward this year.

Even though the Cubs are the main focus in Chicago, the Blackhawks are a big enough deal to get a spot on national television. The Blackhawks are still a good team, but as great as Kane and Jonathan Toews are, they can’t do everything by themselves. They need to get lots of secondary scoring if they are going to succeed this year.
