Frank Kaminsky gets salty in out of the blue Twitter war with Cubs
By Luke Norris
Frank Kaminsky was spotted wearing a Steve Bartman jersey and the Chicago Cubs weren’t too happy about it.
The Charlotte Hornets played a preseason game in Chicago against the Bulls on Monday night and center Frank Kaminsky, a die-hard White Sox fan who was born in Lisle, IL, showed up to the arena in full troll mode as he was spotted wearing a Cubs jersey with the name “Bartman” on the back to go with his Hornets jersey number 44.
As we all know, Steve Bartman is the poor guy who took a lot of punishment back in 2003 for reaching for a foul ball that many think turned the tide in the series. The Florida Marlins would eventually win in seven games and then went on to win the World Series, something that the Cubs haven’t done since 1908.
The Cubs’ official Twitter account took notice of Kaminsky’s outfit choice and decided to fire back a bit at the former University of Wisconsin standout.
Harmless enough. Kaminsky wasn’t done and went ahead and posted the footage from the Bartman incident.
The Cubs must have been thinking that Kaminsky took the easy way out with that one and responded as such.
So instead of going back to the Bartman well, Kaminsky instead took his chance to remind the Cubs of the gem that Clayton Kershaw had thrown in Game 2 of the NLCS on Sunday night.
While it seemed that the two parties were just having a little fun with each other, the Cubs decided to try and drop the mic.
Kaminsky wasn’t going to let that one go as he went to the one place where it’s easy to go when discussing the Cubs and long suffering pain.
The Cubs haven’t responded to that one just yet but plenty of their fans have, reminding Frank Kaminsky that it’s likely he won’t be winning titles anytime soon. Hey, don’t the Hornets have an owner who once tried to play for the White Sox?
As for the Chicago Cubs, they continue their quest toward the World Series in Game 3 of the NLCS against the Dodgers in Los Angeles tonight.
