2017 NFL Mock Draft: Panthers steal impact defensive prospect
As the draft order drastically changes from week to week, find out where the elite prospects land in this 2017 NFL Mock Draft.
Fans of competitive NFL teams may not care much right now, but for some it is never too early for a 2017 NFL Mock Draft. The season is not even at the half way point yet, but there are fans of plenty of teams who are already looking forward.
Who are the best prospects in this draft class and where will they land? Find out in this 2017 NFL Mock Draft featuring the entire first round.
The Cleveland Browns are going to have to figure out their quarterback situation eventually. Robert Griffin III obviously was not the answer, and while Cody Kessler has played better than expected, he has the talent level more of a career backup.
While I do not think it is guaranteed that the Browns will take a quarterback right away, it is the most likely option. They will consider many different options, including a trade down, but getting their franchise quarterback at number is tempting.
The choice here comes down to Clemson’s Deshaun Watson and Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer. It could really end up going either way, but to kick off this 2017 NFL Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Deshaun Watson.
A dynamic play-maker with both his legs and his arms, Watson can be an immediate difference maker at the next level. He is a bit of a raw prospect, but his upside at the quarterback position is absolutely massive.
Watson possess a strong throwing arm and an incredibly quick release for a college quarterback. He does a great job of sensing pressure in the pocket and is an incredible play-maker with his legs.
When a play breaks down, Watson shines. He has an innate ability to make plays when the pressure is on and consistently creates something out of nothing.
All of that being said, he does need to become a more complete quarterback in order to be successful at the next level. Watson struggles at reading through his progressions and his accuracy is a work in progress.
Watson is far from a perfect player right now, but he has the raw ability to shine at the next level. Nobody would blame the Browns for taking a shot on him to kick off the draft.
