3. Denver Nuggets

Sending LaMarcus Aldridge to the Denver Nuggets may not seem ideal, but they have the pieces to make it work. They were also targeting Dwyane Wade in free agency, so maybe they’re going after a talented veteran.

The Nuggets would probably have to build a package to get a deal done. They could put starting power forward Kenneth Faried in the deal who’s owed $12 million in 2016-17. He would be able to replace some or most of Aldridge’s minutes in San Antonio next to Pau Gasol. They could also get a young piece like Gary Harris, plus a future pick. This would condense a backcourt that already has Will Barton, Emmanuel Mudiay, Jamaal Murray, and veteran Jameer Nelson.

Aldridge would become Denver’s best player and the go-to option that they’re missing. They could have him through his age 31 and 32 seasons while the young guards develop. Then, in about one to two years, the Nuggets offense could have a balanced attack on the perimeter and the paint with Aldridge and center Jusuf Nurkic.
