So A Moment in Crime reached 100 percent and no new hero appeared. So people got extremely upset about it. But by following the small in-game details Blizzard did give us, there are some new developments on the trail to Sombra.

People who have been closely following the Overwatch ARG orchestrated by Blizzard have spent the past month monitoring a simple website that functioned essentially as a loading screen. It was widely believed that once the website displayed 100%, a new Overwatch hero would be released.

Yesterday the website reached 100% and nothing happened.

Now that the Overwatch community has had a day to cool down, people are once again following the trail of clues that we hope will lead us to Sombra, the rumored new hacker-based hero. What follows is what has been uncovered so far.

On the El Dorado map, there is a computer screen which seems to have been hacked. When Bastion ventures close to the screen, he starts to make a distinct series of beeping sounds as shown here by TrayDoFIN.

Geniuses within the community decoded Bastion’s beeps into a code which led to a website for the fictional company Lumerico. According to the website, Lumerico’s mission is to “provide Mexico with a modern network infrastructure.”

At the bottom of the company website is a telephone number. When you call the number, a voice speaks a series of numbers. Those numbers are the key to decrypting a separate website on which is Sombra’s skull logo. This leads us to another website on which is displayed a message about taking down the president of Lumerico “because he is a greedy and corrupt man, and an abominable thief.”

Could this be a note from Sombra herself? Seems likely, especially since the message ends with a filched username and password of a Lumerico employee.

Using this login information, you then gain access to what looks like a company email client within the Lumerico website. You are able to browse through multiple emails this employee has received, from the important to the mundane (new espresso machine on Monday!).

One of the emails, however, does mention a presidential bypass website which is apparently a special login page used by the president that Sombra wants to take down. The Overwatch community has managed to figure out the username and password of the president. Upon logging in, a new message from Sombra comes in saying that she needs more time to orchestrate the takedown of the president. At the end of the email, she states, “Stay tuned early next week.”

It’s clear that Blizzard has invested a considerable amount of time and effort into making the next stages of this ARG interesting. It’s hard to say, however, if these efforts will be appreciated in the end. The most prominent feeling in the community so far has been the annoyance at how long this has taken, and all these new developments only indicate more waiting is in store.
