Watch as the timeless, ageless Jaromir Jagr scores his 750th career goal.

Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr is a hockey legend. Not only has he defied age to still be one of the best players in the NHL at the age of 44, he has now surpassed the 750 goals milestone. He is one of the three players to do so.

The other two? Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky.

Whenever you’re in the same conversaton as those two, you’re clearly doing something right. Against his former team, the Washington Capitals, Jagr scored his 750th goal on a power play.

Jagr is a treasure and this play sums up why. Even though his speed has disappeared, Jagr has adjusted his game and still has one of the nastiest shots in the NHL. Jagr is currently third all-time in career goals, standing 51 goals away from Howe in second place and 144 away from Gretzky in first place.

During his career, which will surely be honored in the Hockey Hall of Fame, Jagr has played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils and Florida Panthers. His mullet is as timeless as his trademark skill and shot.

Jagr has one of the most fascinating careers of any player. Had he not gone to the KHL for several years, he might have passed Howe by now. Jagr is just 17 points away from tying Mark Messier for second place on the career points list and 15 assists from tying Paul Coffey as far as career assists.

It’s ironic Jagr scored his 750th goal against the Capitals because he used to play for them. As weird as it sounds, Caps fans should be thanking Jagr. Without his failure, they likely wouldn’t have tanked to get Alex Ovechkin and other great players.
