Check out the Nintendo Switch, a console/handheld hybrid (Video)
Here’s the world premiere preview trailer for Nintendo’s next home gaming system, the Nintendo Switch, and it surpassed our expectations.
The Nintendo NX has been in development for quite a few years now, but it wasn’t announced until March of 2015, the same day that they announced their partnership with Japanese mobile developer DeNA to produce mobile games. This may be a slight reason, but a lot of rumors have said that the NX would be a console hybrid, meaning you can play at home, but you would also be able to on the go with a handheld device.
Well, now we can put most of those rumors to rest. On Thursday, Nintendo released a preview trailer for the brand new Nintendo console, the Nintendo Switch, and it gives us all a glimpse at what to expect from the new console. We were expecting something great and like always, Nintendo has delivered.
Check out the preview trailer below:
From the looks of it, the Switch is very different, but also very similar compared to other consoles. The first thing that pops out is this video confirms all the speculation and rumors. The Switch is officially a console hybrid. Not only is it a home console, but it has detachable controllers along with a handheld screen (similar to that of the Wii U’s gamepad) that you can take with you on the go and play outside of home or around the house.
It also brings an extra gaming controller, which is great. We also saw some new footage of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a new Mario game, and some ports of Wii U games, like Splatoon and Mario Kart 8. Nintendo also seems like they’re supporting many third party developers now, like Bethesda (as some Skyrim Remastered gameplay was shown) and 2K (with NBA 2K17).
Next: The long journey of Beyond Good & Evil 2
We’re very excited to see what else they have in story and in all honesty, the Nintendo Switch again shows why Nintendo is so unique and different.
