5 reasons Alabama will repeat as national champions
Another season of College Football and guess what? Another season of the Alabama Crimson Tide being the best. Nick Saban and Co. are 7-0 so far this season (4-0 in the conference) and haven’t shown signs of slowing down.
This Saturday’s game for Alabama marks the third straight week of facing a ranked opponent. They host No. 6 Texas A&M (6-0, 4-0 in the conference) in Tuscaloosa and look to continue their undefeated streak.
Alabama made quick work of No. 16 Arkansas (5-2, 1-2 in the conference) and No. 9 Tennessee (5-2, 2-2 in the conference) by scoring 49 points in both games.
If Alabama can continue their undefeated streak, the idea of a back-to-back national championship becomes more of a reality. Many counted out Nick Saban and Alabama due to seven players being taken in the 2016 NFL draft. But rest easy, because this might be Saban’s best Crimson Tide team yet.
Here are five reasons why they will be the 2016 NCAA Football champions.
5. The Crimson Tide Defense
The run defense of the Alabama Crimson Tide is incredible. They are the best run defense in the nation and only allow an average of 2.0 yards per carry and a measly 63.9 rushing yards a game. Through seven games, the Tide have also surrendered only THREE rushing touchdowns.
Despite Alabama’s passing defense may not be the best in the league, but they do bring a lot of pressure. Currently, the Crimson Tide lead all of college football with 27.0 sacks.
Behind Jonathon Allen and Dalvin Tomlinson, this defense has been a stubborn force for any and all teams to face. Because of the stout run defense, they should put up strong showings against Texas A&M, LSU, and Auburn, who all focus their offenses around the run game.
The Tide’s defense also capitalizes on mistakes. They’ve scored eight touchdowns on interception and fumble recovery returns. In addition to that, they’ve also recorded three punt return touchdowns for a total of 11 non-offensive related touchdowns. Last season, they had 10. This defense also has held their opponent to 10 or less points in five of their seven games.
