Bill Murray was at Wrigley Field to see the Chicago Cubs win the NLCS and advance to the World Series and reacted by bursting into tears
There are many things that Bill Murray is. He’s one of the most well respected and beloved comedians and actors of all-time. The actor is also a fan of Xavier Musketeers basketball as his son is a coach. However, he’s first and foremost, when it comes to sports, a superfan of the Chicago Cubs. On Saturday night as the Cubs won Game 6 of the NLCS to advance to the World Series for the first time since 1945, you better believe he was in attendance.
After a masterful performance from both starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks and the entire lineup, the Cubs shutout the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 5-0 victory. Aroldis Chapman earned the final out with a forced double-play and Wrigley Field absolutely lost their mind.
However, there may not be a more iconic reaction for this moment than that of Murray. As the final out was recorded, Murray was caught on camera. His reaction was one of pure joy, but also the inability to hold back tears in that moment:

This is absolutely perfect. Not only is this such a hero and icon reacting like this, but it’s also a reaction that encapsulates the feeling for Cubs fans. It’s been so long and there are so many emotions. Yes, everyone is so happy that history is happening and that the curse is broken. But there’s also overwhelming relief and thoughts of all of the heartbreak of the past.
