Christian Pulisic saved a point for Borussia Dortmund, tapping in in stoppage time to level the match at 3-3.
Borussia Dortmund have had a tough day against Ingolstadt. They trailed 2-0 at half-time, and went down 3-1 after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seemed to get them back in the game. But Dortmund were not to be denied, and American teenager Christian Pulisic had a big hand to play in the comeback.
Pulisic came on for the second half. His first major contribution was to provide the assist for Adrian Ramos to make the score 3-2. Then, in the dying moments of the game, he leveled the match at 3-3 to help Dortmund save a point.

It wasn’t the best goal Pulisic has ever scored, but it was certainly one of the most important, and was a clear sign of his growing influence on this Dortmund team.
Dortmund have struggled in the Bundesliga recently, despite excelling in the Champions League. They were fifth in the table heading into the match with Ingolstadt, and already slipping away from Bayern Munich in the standings. Given Bayern’s dominance, Dortmund don’t really have any margin for error in the league.
While Pulisic’s late equalizer helped salvage something from what appeared to be a very winnable game for Dortmund, the result will still feel like a disappointment for a side as strong as Dortmund.
The good news for American soccer fans is that, the more he plays, the better Pulisic seems to get. The 18-year-old has established himself now as a regular contributor on one of Europe’s elite teams, and the benefits that signals for the USMNT are clear.
Pulisic made his national team debut earlier this year, and excelled there, too. He has even been linked in the past several months to Liverpool and Barcelona. Time will tell whether he continues to improve at this rate, but what is certain is that he’s the most promising American youngster in a long, long time.
