The Tennessee Titans were looking for the third straight win this year as they welcomed the struggling Indianapolis Colts to Nashville.

The last time the Tennessee Titans won three games in a row in the same season was 2011. Coincidentally, that year also marks the team’s last win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Mike Mularkey’s club has a chance to handle both matter in one fell swoop on Sunday at Nashville as the 2-4 Colts come to town. It’s safe to say Andrew Luck and his teammates are reeling these days, sitting alone in the AFC South basement and already with a pair of divisional losses.

Still, the Titans can’t seem to remember what it’s like to win in this series. They’ve dropped nine straight to Indianapolis, including the last four on their own home field. But this is a new-look Tennessee team that may be primed to end that losing streak.

Three Stars

1. Marcus Mariota

It’s been a good two-week stretch for the Titans and their second-year quarterback. Mariota has thrown three touchdown passes in each of those contests (compared to a single interception). He also ranks second on the team with 196 rushing yards and Tennessee has put a combined 58 points on the board in wins over the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns.

2. Andrew Luck

The standout signal-caller still isn’t getting a lot of help these days but he remains the team’s clear leader on offense. Luck has connected for 11 scores this season is averaging a brisk 286.8 yards per game through the air. But he’s also been sacked 23 times and has committed six turnovers, which hasn’t helped his team’s cause as well, but the Indianapolis defense remains a liability.

3. DeMarco Murray

The talented runner ranks fourth in the NFL with 526 rushing yards and has run for four scores. But Murray also leads the club with 24 catches, two for touchdowns, and is third in the league with an impressive 698 yards from scrimmage in a half-dozen outings. No doubt the Titans are hoping to exploit the 25th-ranked run defense, a unit that couldn’t slow down Houston’s Lamar Miller last Sunday night.

Odds

The Titans are playing their fourth home game of 2016 and own a 1-2 record in the process. But they’re still a 3-point favorite to end their nine-game losing streak to the Colts. The OVER/UNDER stands at 47.5.

Next Week

The Indianapolis Colts return to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The Tennessee Titans are home for the third consecutive week as they host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.
