Eddie Vedder celebrates Cubs World Series berth with beer shower (Video)
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder took part in the celebration at Wrigley Field after the Chicago Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers to advance to the World Series.
Someday could be coming very soon for the Cubs. The Cubs won the National League Pennant for the first time in 71 years on Saturday night and will play in the World Series for the first time since 1945. The Cubs celebrated on the field and the fans celebrated in the bleachers and on the streets of Clark & Addison until early Sunday morning and that includes Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder.
Vedder is an Evanston, Illinois native and a die-hard Cubs fan and a living legend as the singer for Pearl Jam. He’s also pretty good buds with Cubs president Theo Epstein and watched the game next to him in his private suite.
After the game, Eddie was in the Cubs clubhouse celebrating with the team and got a celebratory beer shower from Cubs pitching coach Chris Bosio. Eddie poured his Budweiser over his head too and those are the perks when you’re buddies with the president and the coolest Cubs fan this side of Bill Murray.
Eddie, naturally, grabbed another Bud from the seemingly never-ending supply of celebratory adult beverages while Fox broadcaster Pete Rose starts singing Pearl Jam song “Better Man.” It made for perfect television for Pearl Jam and Cubs fans.
That wasn’t all for Eddie tonight. After Anthony Rizzo caught the throw from Javy Baez to record the final out in the ninth to win the game, Theo hugged his wife and then hugged Eddie immediately after.
Eddie Vedder is the luckiest Cubs fan and if you weren’t already wishing you could trade lives with him, you certainly are now after seeing this celebration. Vedder once sang “Someday we’ll go all the way” referencing the Cubs winning a World Series and now the Cubs are four wins away from that coming true.
