Geno Smith is looking to lock down the starting quarterback job for the New York Jets. Plays like this to Quincy Enunwa will go a long way towards that.
When Geno Smith was first drafted by the New York Jets, you could be forgiven for thinking he was a bust. In his first two seasons, he threw 25 touchdowns to 34 interceptions. And even though he’s known for being a mobile quarterback, his rushing stats weren’t all that impressive.
His start is how he earned the nickname “Geno Smh” before getting punched in the face. It also led to the Jets acquiring Ryan Fitzpatrick. Even though they didn’t make the playoffs, an 11-5 season seemed like it would spell the end of the Smith era in New York. But a terrible start to the season for Fitzpatrick, including a stretch where he threw nine interceptions in two games, allowed Geno to win back the starting job.
The Baltimore Ravens are the perfect team for Smith to prove himself. They’re on a three-game losing streak, and their offense has been atrocious. And the way they’ve lost games late could set up a Smith’s marquee moment if he can lead the Jets on a game-winning drive. He’s well on his way to doing that when he hooked up with Quincy Enunwa for a 69-yard touchdown:
In a season where Eric Decker got hurt and Brandon Marshall isn’t putting up big numbers, Enunwa has stepped up in a big way. That was his second touchdown of the year, and he proved he’s capable of delivering big plays.

Unfortunately, Smith looked like he hurt his right leg shortly thereafter. While many have taken pride in making fun of Smith, it’s never good to see that happen to anyone. After a promising start to the game for Geno, Jets fans now have to endure Fitzpatrick losing his team the game by throwing five picks.
