The New York Jets (1-5) host the Baltimore Ravens (3-3) in Week 7 of NFL action at Metlife Stadium.

As we all know by now, Geno Smith will start for the Jets at quarterback after Ryan Fitzpatrick played himself out of a job after yet again another dismal performance against the Cardinals last week. Smith can’t be expected to be the Savior of the Jets 2016 season, as it’s too late for that. But he can salvage at least some piece of mind for Jets fans.

Joe Flacco comes into this week short of 100 percent, he did practice Friday though and he’ll be expected to play. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for Flacco who led this team to a 3-0 start before dropping three straight games. Last week on the road against the Giants, Baltimore’s offense accumulated 391 with Flacco throwing for 307. But it wasn’t enough as yards don’t always equal points.

The Jets secondary has been their biggest issue (besides quarterback play) this season. Darrelle Revis can no longer shadow the best receiver on the field and fully lock him down. And while he’s catching a lot more flack than he should, he can’t solely improve a secondary that after him, completely fall off in talent.

Highlights

Highlights will be posted throughout the game.

Three Stars

1. Brandon Marshall

Geno Smith will be starting in place of Ryan Fitzpatrick this weekend, and he’ll be looking for the safest target. With Eric Decker out for the season, Marshall represents the one chance Smith has to launch the ball into a crowd and not be intercepted.

2. Terrance West

In only three starts this year, West already has 414 yards rushing and three touchdowns. West has two rushing touchdowns last week on 23 carries. Against the Jets sixth-ranked run defense, it won’t be east for West to run at will. But their passing attack should be able to open up enough in the ground game.

3. Matt Forte

Baltimore owns the NFL’s best run defense. But the Jets won’t just handoff to Forte. With Smith starting, Forte will get a boatload of dump-offs out of the backfield too. He will be the main check down man for Smith on third down and short yardage situations. Forte has only rushed for 100 yards once this year, and he likely won’t do so this week but it’ll be his threat as a pass catcher that will make a difference Sunday.
