Texas Tech loses, but moves up one spot because of Texas’ downward spiral, pressure on the school, and that quarterback Pat Mahomes set a handful of records last Saturday. It’s kind of amazing that despite throwing 88 times for over 700 yards, the Red Raiders still lost. The Oklahoma defense didn’t prove anything by allowing that many yards, and neither did TTU by giving up over 300 rushing yards and 545 in the air. It’s a game that should get defensive coordinators fired.

After starting 3-1, Kliff Kingsbury’s team sits at 3-4 and faces a difficult schedule to finish the season. They have to go to TCU, go back home for Texas, travel to Oklahoma State, and return home for Baylor. With a likely win over Kansas, this leaves a realistic chance of Texas Tech finishing at 4-8. If so, could Kingsbury’s job be on the line?

TCU seemed to have momentum going for themselves at 4-2 after barely losing to Oklahoma and Arkansas. However, last Saturday, they traveled to West Virginia and got pounced, 34-10 in the most surprisingly lopsided game of the Big 12 weekend. They let quarterback Skyler Howard throw four touchdown passes to four different receivers, and gave up 158 rushing yards.

On the other side of the ball, the TCU passing game couldn’t get anything going with Kenny Hill. Kyle Hicks did pitch in 152 rushing yards, but never found the end zone.

The Horned Frogs defense will face the task of defending potentially 88 pass attempts from Texas Tech this Saturday. After being limited to just one touchdown, TCU may need to unleash everything from their playbook in order to keep up with this aerial attack of an offense. If not, they’ll drop to 4-4.
