Week 8 of the 2016 college football season is in the books. Here are the weekly superlatives from Week 8 as a part of College Football Blitz.

The 2016 college football season is humming right along. Previously undefeated teams like the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Texas A&M Aggies suffered their first losses of the season, while teams like the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Washington Huskies, and the West Virginia Mountaineers remain unbeaten.

Week 8 was definitely better than Week 7. The upsets weren’t of the ridiculous variety, but the play on Saturday across the country was pretty spectacular. Without further ado, here are the weekly superlatives from Week 8 as a part of College Football Blitz.

Offensive Player of the Week: Utah Utes RB Joe Williams

Everybody needs some time on their own. It’s not quite November, but Utah Utes running back Joe Williams has ended his month-long retirement and is absolutely doing work in the Pac-12. Williams returned to gridiron for the Utes on October 15th after leaving the team for four weeks.

His play on Saturday against an increasingly soft UCLA Bruins team was out of this world. Williams had 29 carries for 332 yards and four touchdowns. Utah needed every bit of Williams to beat Pac-12 South rival UCLA in Westwood in Week 8, 52-45.

Williams ran for more yards against the Bruins than he had on the entire season for the Utes at 254. The Utes are looking like the best team in Pac-12 South at 7-1 (4-1). Their lone loss on the year is to the California Golden Bears, 28-23 on October 1st in Berkley.

Utah has a huge Pac-12 game on Saturday, October 29th. The undefeated Washington Huskies come to town for a 3:30 PM ET kickoff at Rice-Eccles Stadium. If Williams plays anything like he did against UCLA, the Utes can definitely upset the Huskies in Week 9.
