MLB Playoffs 2016: Who is the World Series favorite?
On Tuesday, the Cleveland Indians will take on the Chicago Cubs in the World Series. With two great teams squaring off, who is favored?
Back in the month of April the baseball season was up for grabs. The playing field was level and it was officially a wide open season, everyone was contenders. However, if you asked fans who they thought would be going to the World Series, the Chicago Cubs were probably on the radar while the Cleveland Indians were probably near the bottom of the list.
Now with one-hundred and sixty-two games behind us, the two best teams in the league will square off in a best-of-seven game series.
Every baseball fan loves the World Series, it makes the month of October that much better. So who is the favorite? Going into the 2016 World Series the Cubs are favored to win. On Saturday night, the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook set the odds for the Cubs at -175 and the Indians at +155.
For people who do not bet that simply means that in order to win $100 on the Cubs you would have to lay out $175. However since the Indians are the underdogs if you bet $100, you would win $155. It’s no surprise that the Cubs are the favorite in the World Series. They led the league in wins, setting a mark of 103. That’s not only a league leading total, but it’s the only win count that exceeded one hundred for the 2016 Major League Baseball season.
Though they did not lead the American League in wins, the Indians had an impressive season as well. They won 94 games and ran away with the American League Central division. Following their win over the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS, Cleveland is headed to their sixth World Series in 116 years.

On the other hand, the Cubs have not been to a World Series since 1945, which ended in a loss to the Detroit Tigers. Chicago’s championship drought currently stands at 108 years, their last title was in 1908.
After a productive season the fans are not only starving for a championship, but they are more-than hopeful their team will come out on top.
