The Orlando Magic experienced a pretty significant roster overhaul during offseason, signing center Bismack Biyombo in free agency and shipping out Victor Oladipo as part of a package to bring in power forward Serge Ibaka. The Magic’s backcourt will be led by third-year pro Elfrid Payton, a former lottery pick who has been solid, but not spectacular in the NBA thus far. For Orlando, there is still room to grow at the point guard position.

Lonzo Ball is a 6-foot-6 point guard who will play for UCLA this upcoming season. He has elite court vision, using his excellent instincts, height and creativity to facilitate the offense for his team. Ball will share point guard duties with Bryce Alford as a freshman, but he should still see plenty of time on the ball given his skillset. The 18-year old is still developing from a scoring standpoint. His jumper lacks polish and he doesn’t have the athleticism or strength to be an elite finisher at the rim.

Ball’s length does make him a valuable asset on the defensive end. He also possesses sufficient quickness that when combined with his good feel for the game allows him to generate a solid amount of steals. Once he fills out his 190-pound frame, Ball should be able to at least defend both guard spots at the next level.
. PG/SG. UCLA. Lonzo Ball. 11. player. 38
