Andre Iguodala started off the season of flopping with this horrendous one on opening night against the Spurs.

Andre Iguodala remained with the Golden State Warriors after their highly-publicized offseason. This saw them sign prized free agent Kevin Durant and let go of just about everyone outside of Stephen Curry, Draymond, Green, and Klay Thompson. Given Iguodala’s pricey contract his defensive value may have kept him around.

On Wednesday night, the Warriors opened their season at home against the San Antonio Spurs. They also had a new look without Tim Duncan, who retired. This also saw Durant made his regular season debut with the 2016 NBA Finals runner-up.

Midway through the first half, Iguodala made a highlight reel play, but one that may get him fined. He passed the ball to Zaza Pachulia near the top of the key, but for some reason pulled off a horrendous flop.

The NBA will probably be asking for money very soon.

Flops are something that the NBA has tried to cool down over the past few years. They’ve resorted to fining players who look to draw fouls this way, which seems to have lessened the frequency of flops. However, there’s still a player or two that tries to get away with it, similar to Iguodala’s stunt. Their deep pockets then get lighter by a few thousand dollars.

Andre Iguodala’s flop will be the first of dozens seen throughout this long season. We’ll see another soon enough, maybe even later on in this game. It won’t affect the outcome much, but risking money and points with a silly move isn’t worth it at any point in a game.
